The Cross received Jesus alive and returned Him dead;
The Shroud received Jesus dead and returned Him alive.
LENTEN MISSION: Exploring the Shroud of Turin
The Shroud bears a faint image of a crucified man, aligning with Christ's crucifixion accounts in the Bible, making it a convergence point of faith, history, and science, and a subject of intense debate and fascination for centuries. This mysterious piece of linen cloth has captivated scholars, scientists, theologians, and the general public alike.
The Shroud shows markings consistent with a crown of thorns, scourging, crucifixion wounds, and a side piercing. The congruence between the Shroud's imprints and the Biblical narrative fuels belief in its authenticity as the burial cloth of Jesus, making it a tangible connection to the events described in the Bible.
