Sacramentals and Prayer
"Besides sacramental liturgy and sacramentals, catechesis [in the faith] must take into account the forms of piety and popular devotions among the faithful. The religious sense of the Christian people has always found expression in various forms of piety surrounding the Church's sacramental life, such as the veneration of relics, visits to sanctuaries, pilgrimages, processions, the stations of the cross, the rosary, medals, etc." (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 1674)
"For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy."---St. Therese of Lisieux
"Prayer is a conversation with God."---Clement of Alexandria
"The Lord's Prayer is the most perfect of prayers...In it we ask, not only for all the things we can rightly desire, but also in the sequence that they should be desired. This prayer not only teaches us to ask for things, but also in what order we should desire them"--St. Thomas Aquinas
*An easy way to remember the different kinds of prayer is ACTS: (A)doration, (C)ontrition, (T)hanksgiving, and (S)upplication.
